Aquahot leaked, How would you repair bay floor?
Hi guys,
I got the old OZITE Carpet out of the bay today. Fortunately the fluids did not creep up the side walls and what didn't come out I'll just have to live with. I'm not going to take the Aquahot out until I have to. Too much trouble for whatever advantage will be gained. I'll say one thing this stuff is tough. The glue backing of course has been turned to slime but the carpet itself is still very much intact. It would not tear at all; I had to cut it out. A little elbow grease and some Acetone and the slimed glue is off the sheet metal floor and is ready for a new covering, I'll get over to Home Depot and by some more Ozite in the morning, "Kurt, I believe underneath your carpet is metal. The carpet used is Ozite unitary backed. You will have to scrape it off. Home Depot, actually, has this material in stock. Ernie Ekberg", exactly as described Ernie, thanks! Some paint did come off with the cleaning operation and there is some minimal rusting, just some coin sized spots, I'll clean those up and shoot some paint on the bare sports before installing the new Ozite. Thanks for all the suggestions. Also when my A/H leaked I had to pull all the sheet metal and replace the duct liner insulation around the tank, it was soaked with diesel too. > Marty Gregg > 95 BMC 37 > Kennewick WA > |
