Hi Bob,
Working on this Onan/Kubota is really difficult. Most of the coolant hoses, starter,Alternator are on the opposite side. The Onan is mounted to a steel tray, two bolts each side, Then there are cable connectors, exhaust, fuel lines and coolant hoses to disconnect to remove the entire unit. You may try to remove the front two bolts, loosen the rear bolts and try to tilt the generator forward using a floor jack. I have not tried this but it may give enough room to access the starter. Keeping in mind that there are many connections in the read. Check the easy stuff first, like the battery, cables & grounds.
