Air Filter for generator

Air Filter for generator
Chet,

Unfiltered air particulates cause a significant portion of internal engine
cylinder wall wear. Before you replace that oil bath filter, every test I have
seen still shows the old oil bath air cleaners as the best air particulate
filters, hands down. As I understand it, this is part of the reason why many of
the K&N and Amsoil high efficiency filters that I have used have a light oil
covering on their filter mediums. While the oil bath filter is a bit of a pain
to service, it is not a big deal, you do not do it very often and the cost of a
few ounces of fresh oil is minimal compared to a new filter element every time.
FYI, that NAPA 6296 air filter was $32.49 yesterday at the warehouse, but the
invoice showed a list price of $55.59, so I take that to mean that your price
may vary widely depending were you buy it.
