Since the subject of filters has come up, I would like to add some
fuel to that fire.
Not all filters are of the same quality.
In a past job, I had the opportunity to purchase several different
brands of the same part number filter, and one of the salesmen said
to cut them open(new) and compare. You would very surprised at the
difference in manufacture. I now buy, no let me rephrase that, I now
don't buy certain brand name filters, as their quality leaves alot to
be desired.
Many years ago, I had to go to court because a certain oil filter
did not do it's job on a vehicle that was under warranty(the owner
changed his own oil), and the engine locked up. The oil was still clean
but the filter was dry. Meaning nothing passed through it.
