The world of filters is dark and mysterious. Motocraft do not make any filters.
They are likely made by Champion labs ( not spark plugs) Champion makes a lot of
OEM filters, even for GM. Cat makes their own filters and they are very high
quality. Unfortunately they stopped making filters for the legacy engines (
3208) and those appear to be Wix. Cummins Filtration ( Fleetguard) make some of
the finest filters on the market. There is more to a filter than the media. The
bypass valves and how they are mounted is important. Diesels tend to have higher
oil pressures than gas engines so the thickness of the "can" and the way the can
is attached to the flange is important. Some Cat filters have die cast flanges!!
Way stronger than stamped sheet metal. Not every filter mfr. makes every filter
in their catalog. Some of the less popular #'s will come from: Wix, Champion,
Luberfiner and others. Just painted a different color! Donalson is often OEM for
air filters on trucks and they also make the filter housings. There is one
strict rule to follow: Do not abuse your power plant with a Fram filter!! JUNK
