SP36 Alternator Schematic
The radiator shrouding is important to match up and reinstall properly plus fan
speed and clutch performance is important too. If I had a 3208 I would
definitely find a two speed aftermarket fan that would work. It may cycle more
often becaue the t stat was shadetree engineered????
In an old 3208 dumptruck I would always try and manually engage my fan at low
rpm when the temp gauge clued me of a soon to clutch-up event. I didnt want the
belt and bearing to experience a 2800 rpm abrupt torque-kick. with the two
speed you could shade-tree engineer a t stat to turn it on at a lower temp and
may never have it go to high speed??.
I have this fan clutch on a 92 N-14. I think this will solve many 3208 issues.

> I found, as mentioned in previous posting, that my oil cooler had leaked oil
into the cooling system. A big mess. I still have the sooling system
conditioner/cleaner in the coach so I don't know if the heating problen causing
the frequent cycling of the fan is solved or not. I expect not. I had a long
discussion with the folks at Caterpillar who installed both the new engine and
the new radiator. The solution has not been found in spite of the installation
of a 16" electric thermostat controlled fan to help the mechanical one. It
still cycles more often than the old rad with old engine. This is on-going but
I am almost certain now that the rad is the culprit. I will let you know when
the problem is solved.
