Over-heating on long grade
I'd add that you were probably running it for significant
periods of time out of torque converter lock-up. The transmission runs on torque converter mode till you hit the upper rpm range of second gear at which point the torque converter locks and you have direct mechanical drive. In non-lock, the torque converter provides fluid drive which causes a bunch of heat. Try to go fast enough to put her in lock-up. Lock-up feels like another gear shift. Count the shifts, strive for three at a minimum. This will significantly cut down on the transmission heat, and will also cut down on engine heat. The tranny does a good job of baking the engine.
