Drove a New Blue Bird Yesterday
I drove my Bird after getting all 4 shocks replaced and
it rides like a dream. Wow is all I can say. I ordered all 4 from Blue Bird. The fronts were Konis at $138 each, the rears were $54 and they sent Gabriel shocks. I had 2 fairly new Monroes on the front and the rears turned out to be toast when we pulled them off. If you held one of them compressed, it would fall open by itself. If you gave it a little shake as it was falling open, it would drop to the bottom with a metallic CLUNK when it stopped. I've rarely seen a shock so bad. I set the Konis right in the middle, adjustment-wise. There's no more "end to end" rocking while I drive and the ride is really smooth and stable. This was just around town, I can hardly wait to get it on the road. Also, when exiting a driveway, the bus doesn't rock sideways at all. It does the normal roll, but stops moving when it corrects itself back. The fronts were an easy change, the rears are hidden tightly behind the rear wheels. When you get rear tires replaced, the rear shocks are right in the open and easily replaced. Don't even think about changing these with the rear tires on. George Witt 81 FC 35 Lincoln, Nebraska |
