Intertherm A/C shroud

II believe if I had a shroud that was falling apart and a replacement was
not available I would remove it, fiberglass the inside and then a skim
coat to the outside and paint it. Has anyone tried it? I had the same
problem with my chassis A/C condensor which is mounted on the roof of older
Bluebirds. I made a pattern from the old shroud and made it out of
galvanized 14GA metal. Primed it with acid etching primer and painted it.
Cant tell the difference between the old or the new except the new has no
dents and bangs.
