Leaking fitting on gen. fuel filter

Art, I believe that if your main engine is off, you should not have any problems changing the fitting on your generator fuel filter. What I'm asking for guidance on is how to change a leaking fitting in the generator primary fuel filter without having to drain the fuel tank. It is almost full. Incidentaly, both filters were full of fuel when I removed them.
