In my opinion they should have continued doing it your way. It makes much more sense, especially when you have a slide. Murphy's law for sure. The in and out movement of the slide was going to eventually loosen the fittings and if one wasn't home one could have a real disaster from all of the potential water damage. We were lucky. For now, we are sealing our middle AC drain off and diverting the flow to the roof top.
