Genny flexible exhaust
Alan, Yes. The second flex was installed on the vertical section just below the
90 degree elbow. Since the 15K genny in that Bird (Serial # 2) had a water
cooled exhaust manifold that connected the exhaust via studs protruding from the
manifold, there was now enough flex to install or remove the pipe without
disturbing the manifold.

As I recall, thge two flex sections were different diameters but both available
at a local muffler shop.

(As opposed to the flex making the elbow.)

after I purchased it in 1991. This was an "accordion" type about 10-12" long. I
replaced it with two flex connectors, one where the original was and another on
the pipe where it turned 90 degrees. The replacements had a stainless woven
appearance. Doubling up seemed to do the trick. They were still fine when I sold
the coach in 2001. Don Bradner has that coach now and can tell you if they are
still holding.

years, and it just broke again. The piece is about 12 inches long and is of
course designed to absorb some of the vibration off the genset. But I'm tired of
replacing that thing.

pipe with a solid pipe? I'm thinking the exhaust hangers would then just have
to absorb any of the vibration.
