Jamie, I am not 100% sure in your case, but yes if you are low enough on freon there are low pressure switches that will shut the system down, in order to prevent damage to the compressor. Have your system checked to verify that you have low pressure condition, and then find out where the leak is. This may be a expensive job, or you may be lucky, and just have a couple seals that need to be replaced. Good Luck, George Burke 1977FC31 Charlotte

dose anyone know if there is a presure switch or anything that would stop the motor ac from working??
when I jump the compresure it works and gets colder but not that cold
somthing is stopping the compresure from kicking in

if the freon is low will that cose this??
any help would be apprciated thanks
