Another RECALL for the 1200 Norcold
Hi Mike, Wow, nice offer, Thanks. Iam going to try and get it fixed at a camping
world some where alone the way, probably down around Springfield, mo.
We're planning on leaving here the middle of December and being on our site by
the 22nd. We'll stop at Carol's sisters house a couple days and then head south.
Looking forward to seeing you folks at SPI. Thanks again

my 91 because of the very good performance and longevity with the one in my 83,
and the fact that Dometic offered an extended warranty program.  So far so
good. I also keep the bus plugged in when stored, or on the genset when
running down the road, so the fridge is running constantly rather than letting
it cycle on and off. Don't know if that helps or not, but the one in the 83
lasted for many years doing that.

stand, I used my motorcycle jack to ease the old unit out and the new one in.Â
Worked great, as I could modify the height as needed rather than having a fixed
height stand.

you come thru San Antonio, we can use my motorcycle jack to pull it out and fix
it, if you want.Â

will beat us all down there this year, by a wide margin!

from the rear of the unit without pulling the reefer out so I did not do
anything like you mentioned. I now know that it's going to take pulling the
reefer to do any kind of maintence on it. Building the stand for it to set on is
the way to go. My last three birds had the dometic,I know they all have their
problems but norcold seems to have more than most and besides that I don't
think it's as efficent as some of the others. I've finally got mine to do a much
better job of cooling, I added another fan in the bottom of the cabinet and also
increased the size of the top vent and it now seems to do a much better job. On
my 93 with the dometic their was a lot of room behind the unit, this 99 is
really cramped and also has a much smaller vent door than the dometic. Thanks
for the reply

cooling unit replaced then the recall for the limit switch. I couldn't find
anyone to do that one so I did it myself. Whether you choose to go this route or
have someone else do it, eliminate the chance for damage by making a platform
just the height of the bottom of the refrigerator.

refrigerator on top of an up-side-down rubber backed bath rug. Slide the
refrigerator out onto the platform for easy access to the back. This makes a one
man job out of it.

done on the recall that they did on the coach last year. this will be the second
time they have to put a switch on the stack to prevent over heating. The
previous owner had a recall where they replace the cooling unit. It's a pain
because their is not enough room inside the outside access to do what is
required to complete the recall. They have to take the reefer almost all the way
out of it's opening to work on it. You then have the problems of getting it all
resealed and hope that they don't scratch thing up. Iam thinking of stopping at
camping world on the way to SPI and have them do it. Not a big fan of Norcold.
