Hello Wanderlodgers!
I've been off this list for over a year. 2010 was a very rough one for me - caring for very sick family member. Never drove my 83 FC-35 anywhere for pleasure. It is still winterized from 2009.
I did drive the bird to my local Bluebird dealer over the summer because its accelerator pedal was sticking. It's always a fun experience to take your foot off the pedal and it does not spring back!
The Bluebird dealer had the bus for months, and replaced the throttle cable with a new, custom, heavier duty cable. The old one was quite rusted! Upon returning the bus to me, however, the dealer told me that the pedal still sticks periodically because my throttle body has a bad bushing, and needed to be replaced. Bluebird did not want to do the engine work - and recommended that I drive it to the Caterpillar shop for that.
Does anybody have experience replacing a throttle body on a 3208? Is it possible to do
yourself, or better brought to a mechanic?
I'm hoping to start using the bird again this winter. I'm excited to start working on it again - even in this very cold weather!
