Rear LP furnace wont light
Dan Sunderland showed me a can of penetrating oil that he claimed was better then PB blaster. I tried some on my 28 year old pop-off valve on my hot water heater. Sure enough, it works. It is called Kano- Aero-kroil www.kanolabs.com Of course I would LIKE to have a financial interest in this company. Gotta get back to work demolishing an Lxi in my front yard~

Ed, Soak the screws and let stand overnight. They will need to soak. Carefully remove the ignitor assembly (thing with the wires) by removing the two hex-head screws and see if the ignitor is grounded out or filthy. Be gentle with the gasket- they can crumble easily. Clean the ends with some emery paper. Usually, the middle pin is a ground. The one on the left is the ignitor and the other one goes to the thermocouple. The ignitor should be 1/8" from the center ground pin and the Thermocouple should be 1/4 from it. When you start the unit, a fan should come on and then a few seconds later, you should be hearing an audible "click" from the propane solenoid opening. If you are not getting the click, you'll need to pull out the unit and check the sail switch just behind the blower fan. Sometimes, they can accumulate dust and will not open entirely.

produces flakes of ash and they can get in the way. Vacumn out the area and then try it. If you still have no spark, the gap between the electrode and the gas burner might be too great. I'm going to bet you have ash in the way.
