Rear LP furnace wont light
Looks like I responded to the wrong email! Ed, I have “overhauled” all three of the furnaces in our 82 - - From: Thanks, Ernie and Shane for your help. I did get the screws out so I pulled out the ignitor and it looked brand new. Now rust or ashes. Now I'm atempting to remove the furnace so I can maybe see the problem. Still have heard from anybody that has removed one. Am having to remove vent to bathroom through cabinent. thanks --- In "WanderlodgeForum%40yahoogroups.com", "sfedeli3" <sfedeli3@...> wrote: > > Ed, Soak the screws and let stand overnight. They will need to soak. Carefully remove the ignitor assembly (thing with the wires) by removing the two hex-head screws and see if the ignitor is grounded out or filthy. Be gentle with the gasket- they can crumble easily. Clean the ends with some emery paper. Usually, the middle pin is a ground. The one on the left is the ignitor and the other one goes to the thermocouple. The ignitor should be 1/8" from the center ground pin and the Thermocouple should be 1/4 from it. When you start the unit, a fan should come on and then a few seconds later, you should be hearing an audible "click" from the propane solenoid opening. If you are not getting the click, you'll need to pull out the unit and check the sail switch just behind the blower fan. Sometimes, they can accumulate dust and will not open entirely. > > Shane Fedeli > 1985PT40 > > > --- In "WanderlodgeForum%40yahoogroups.com", "wl89spman" > > > > > > Thanks Ron for help. Ill chech that tommorrow.Actually I tried to get the ignator out today and couldnt break the screws loose, even with liquid wrench... > > > > thanks Ron > > > > > > > > > > > > --- In "WanderlodgeForum%40yahoogroups.com", "ronmarabito2002" > > > > > > Ed: There is a little inspection window that can be opened. Right behind that is the igniter. Open it and check for ash bridging the gap. The furnace produces flakes of ash and they can get in the way. Vacumn out the area and then try it. If you still have no spark, the gap between the electrode and the gas burner might be too great. I'm going to bet you have ash in the way. > > > > > > R.E. Blower comes on but I dont hear any sparking from the igniter, therefore it never lights the gas. Gas valve is turned to on, all other heaters work ,also cooktop works. Dash sw(lp heat) is on. > > > > My question is 'how do you remove it to check it out(89 SP36)?Have any of you removed this furnace(NT-16SW).How do get to the elec. connectionin the rear? > > > > Any advice and or experiences would be welcomed... > > > > > > > > > > > > Thanks > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > |
