Engine Belts
The 3208 does not seem to be real easy on
belts. I check the tension before any long
runs, and open up for a look every year or
so, or if I'm in there for other service. I
don't think I get more than 3-4 years out of
the belts. That's about 15K-20K miles.
Because the belts are not that convenient on
an FC, any belt I don't like the looks of
gets replaced when the front is open.
Tension and idler pulleys need to be watched
for worn bearings; sloppy bearings lead to
premature belt wear and thrown belts.

Spare belts and a set of tools are good
insurance.

I was wandering what the rule of thumb to
change your engine belts on a 3208 cat.
Whether it be miles or years. what do most of
you guys do. I don't want to take off good
belts & replace them to soon Thanks for your
input.
