Engine/alternator separation
Art,
I am not sure if you have removed the belts or not. What you have to do is remove the top bolt and then also remove the nut off the bottom pivot bolt that is about 3 or 4 inches long. Then wiggle that pivot bolt out until it disloges from the engine casting. The alternator should just wiggle free at that point. Maybe a slight pry but should not take much effort.Â
Then putting it back together you reverse the process. So belts on first and then slide your pivot bolt back in and then install your top bolt and tension your belts. Intuitively you don't want to play with that pivot bolts and belts etc all at once but that is the way you have to do it.Â
It should go fairly well for you.Â
