How about starting at zero mph and go slowly to 50 mph counting how times it shifts, and watch the tach for small drops in RPM's

That is interesting that you mention the transmission....it is something I have suspicioned because that is how it seems when starting from a stop.

Is there any way to verify this? Would pushing "1" guarantee that it is indeed in first gear? This has the allison 5 speed, not sure on the model, I think its something like a 745 or 755.

We have an appointment to have it checked out Monday. Finally found a tech in this area willing to work/check a 8V92.

I will let you all know what they find.
