Dash Air '97 BMC 40'
George,
Excellent advise, as usual.
IF the clutch engages after it's jumpered with battery
voltage, the next step would be to check the pressure switch(es).
There's a switch in the high pressure line to shut down the
compressor after loss of refrigerant as a safety feature.
It will be a small aluminum sensor in the high pressure
line somewhere with 2 wires going to it. If you can find it,
remove both wires and hold them (or jumper them) together. If
the compressor clutch activates, either the switch is bad
or you've lost all the freon. If the suction pipes get cold
when the compressor runs, you need a switch.
Some systems have a 2nd switch on the suction (low) side
also, but it's rare.
ALSO, congrats on selling your bus. I was going to see if
you'd finance it for me at 10 bucks a week, but it's too late
now. Let me know if the deal falls through. LMAO!!
