I thought it was maybe red lead anti-fouling paint like they used to use on boat bottoms. I thought Glyptol rang a bell--I saw it recommended years ago for sealing castings. Supposed to make oil flow better?! I considered it for corrosion-inhibiting inside a seawater-cooled exhaust manifold.
