RE: LXi and WideBody PTO/Pump Splines
I pulled my pump and checked the splines. Thought you'd like a little more data on wear based on 160,000 miles, with the splines greased every 3-5 thousand miles, using the original grease fitting. The grease however was mostly synthetic, green Tractor Supply (some chassis grease from Detroit techs). No spline grease. The cavity was full of liquid grease, when opened up (it all ran out on the ground), so it was kind of like a wet lube situation.
The attached wear, as near as I could measure from .724 shaft diameter, was about .006". I am going to change to the wet spline, but will run awhile longer, using the Chelsea spline grease (which is in there now). Morey Zuber 99LXi41 |
