RE: 450 LXI
Owners like you Rich are turning the tide. You and the other second and third owners do post about M450's issues and fixes. I'm of the opinion that this can only help, but there's room to grow. I gather from your post that Arvin Meritor has stepped up and they are providing parts and support for the suspension components?
In terms of ride, handling, and feature set, clearly the M450 is superior - that's never been a question. After all this is why folks are considering an 'upgrade'. We expect greatness from the M450. The chassis, suspension, and house integrity should be right up there with Al's other choices and should easily eclipse the other birds. In many ways Wanderlodge succeeded, but I personally need more convincing about support, parts, and safety. An example is the market for vintage birds. These 35+ year old birds are still humming along running panhard dogbone ends that are the same as my LXi's! Blue Bird has been criticized for not progressing fast enough and falling behind the competition, but lucky for us their stodginess in selecting Ridewell year after year has allowed our old buses to stay on the road. What does the future bode w/o Arvin Meritor's support? david brady, '02 Wanderlodge LXi 'Smokey' (Sold), '04 Prevost H3 Vantare 'SpongeBob' "I don't like being wrong, but I really hate being right" |
