USAToday 10 best national parks for camping
A recent USAToday reader poll on the 10 best national parks for camping (http://www.usatoday.com/story/experience...g/8816559/) includes one that the Lone Star Birds will be having a rally at in late October into early November. The Terlingua ChiliFest (actually two back to back dueling festivals) takes place on the edge of the Big Bend National Park in Texas. Before and/or after the madness of the Chili festivals, you can explore Big Bend, and then Marfa is not far from there either, so you can go there to experience the night time 'Marfa lights'.
More info can be found on the LSB website: http://www.lonestarbirds.shutterfly.com. The password is bluebird. The 48th Annual 2014 Original Terlingua International Frank X. Tolbert - Wick Fowler Championship Chili Cookoff takes place Oct 30, 31 and November 1, while the slightly more structured and rules oriented Terlingua International Chili Championship, as sanctioned by the Chili Appreciation Society International, Inc, takes place Oct 29 through November 1 as I understand their schedule. If anyone is going through or from San Antonio, I would be interested in a convoy, either out 90 (off the beaten path route) or IH10. Mike Bulriss 2001 LXi43 DS San Antonio, TX |
