Has anyone here chained up there bus to go into snow or ice conditions?

That sounds like a reasonable plan of attack. You at least have the option of parking for a day or 2 to allow conditions to get better before continuing on and be relatively comfortable while doing so. The truckers only have their uninsulated shacks. Those just aren't much fun in the cold.
