CB radio troubleshooting
Troy,
A couple things...is there is an external speaker plugged into the external speaker jack at the rear of the radio? If there is, try unplugging it, and see if the radio blows any squelch. If it does, your "Privacy" toggle switch might be in the privacy position (this switch should be in the area of your master a/c toggle switches (most likely above and to the left of the driver's head). Plug the speaker jack back in, open the squelch, and try flipping the "Privacy" switch. This could be the culprit. (Switches in the wrong position usually are) Ralph had a good idea also...you should get some noise from the speaker even without an antenna with the squelch open, but you will get a lot more with an antenna hooked up. If you don't have an antenna, just stick an old wire clothes hanger in the center part of the antenna jack on the radio **Do not transmit with this clothes wire antenna**...you will definitely hurt the radio's transmitter. If the radio is shot, they can be easily found at Radio Shack, or for a really good selection, try Scanner World out of NY. Scannerworld.com I think. Good luck!
