Tire Size
Joe(Pappy),
Our 77 FC (Gas)is still wearing 10x20 shoes on Alcoa rims. I think that was the last year for the 20" rims - seems to coincide with the change in '78 to the 3208 Cat as the "standard" poweplant. Some owners of the 70's FC 'Birds have upgraded to the 8.25x22.5 rims and 11x22.5 tires. That upgrade is certainly on my wish list, especially since our tires are older than dirt and need replacement badly. Any that I have seen have the "bus tire" although it appears in some photos that a smaller tire is being used. Most buses I have driven in the past 47 years have had the 12X22.5 tire - and later the metric equivilents. Looking at photos of the older FC35 coaches, they appear to be equipped with the larger tire. The PT, I asume, has a smaller "footprint" with 8 tires than a coach with 6 tires. I'm still a wanabee, so I hope you will tolerate my curiosities. Thanks folks. > > Joe (Pappy) Hagan > > > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > |
