basement door strut part number
Jay,
Every strut on my coach is bad. I priced replacements at a local auto parts store they were about $40.00 per set. I use bungie cords to hold them open works great cost $4.74 for all I needed at Wal Mart. If you want to make something that will hold them up get you some heavy or thick wall PVC or Copper Pipe and cut it the length of the extended ram. Unfasten one end of the strut and slide the pipe over the strut and reattach the strut. If you have it cut to the right length when you open the door the ram pulls out from the strut and the pipe drops under the edge of the strut and holds the door open. When you get ready to close the door push up on the door, push in slightly on the pipe so the strut can slide down inside the pipe. You only need one pipe per door and put it on the right side if you are right handed. You will never have to worry about struts again. I have a more elaborate one on the rear engine access door. I guess it was OE. Howard O.
