This is true! At $389, I don't see this coming down too much though. I
really don't want to spend $500+ since the rig is in storage, more
than in use.

I did a little more research. The company that makes this TV
(Envision) has been in the computer monitor business for awhile. They
make lots of LCD's and CRT's for that application. This has PIP, and a
port to let you plug in your computer, to use it as a monitor. What I
like to do, is run my digital photos, via a "My Picture's" screensaver
thru the computer or TV display. That way I get an everchanging
personal photoshow.

The screensaver is already on most computers if you have Microsoft
operating systems: Start/Control Panel/Display/Screensaver/My Picture
Slideshow [in the horizontal bar]. You can adjust the time each
picture displays, and how long the computer waits before starting the
show by clicking on "Settings".

We have hundreds (thousands?)of pictures in our computer, this lets us
actually see them.
