Alternator for a 8v92
Hi Greg:

Actually, I have seen it both ways with the dash switch. I have seen the
alts wired to the relays to switch the "view" via a common shunt and they
also pulled in the coil of large solenoids to switch out the alt. Then I
have seen the alts going to an isolator and the dash switch only switched
out the view but not which alt was being used. Personally I would want both
alts putting out and only see the view of each one via the dash switch.

The isolator can be just that or BB used solenoids as isolators as well,
with an and or configuration. These solenoids are separate from the above.

Generally though, the alts are usually working but the view wiring is the
actual problem.

Then we get into the huge 300 amp oil cooled alt. Whew, hate to get that
one rebuilt.
