Need Advice Replacing Commode in 1979 FC,SB 35
Hey Henry, I just did some work on our commode in our RB. The pedal
quit working properly. It was very rusty and well after 20 yrs I guess a little maintenance was in order. I can tell you that there is not much to "rebuild" if you want to keep the same one. But If you want to just replace it then I would stay with Thetford brand and it should bolt up. Check with Thetford about the footprint for the replacment. In my "bull in a china shop" approach I rung off the copper line and had to re-solder fittings, and I used flexible hose because there is very little room behind the unit and it is plumbed directly into the copper lines. Now I can "easily" remove the unit simply by unbolting it from the floor and set it aside without "unplumbing" should I "have to"...I did "have to" when replacing the hot water tank at RIV and was glad I had room to remove it.
