Stud Piloted vs Hub Piloted
That's pretty much it.

The most important difference is that on a "stud-piloted" wheel the
weight of the coach is borne by the friction between the wheel and
the hub via the clamping force of the nut (so NO GREASE between wheel
and hub on stud-piloted). On the "hub-piloted" wheel the weight of
the coach is borne by the hub flange in the center of the wheel/hub,
the studs just keep it there and transfer lateral loads and torque
(thus the smaller studs/nuts). The stud-piloted is an older system ,
the hub-piloted was a European standard. Most American cars and Class-
8 trucks changed in the late '80s on, BB changed in '02 I believe,
some RVs still haven't changed.

They are not compatible. Both work fine if properly installed.
