There are on most panels only a limited number of mounting points
either 4 or 6 with a 1 inch zed you can fasten the pnaels to the roof
an other alternative is to make a frame and bolt to the roof ribs and
inlay the panel into the frame Bear in mind if locating the roof ribs
they also hold up interior ceiling so there is not much room for error
when drilling too deep and bingo screw in living room
The blusbird goat rail is held on by sheet metal screws as is the
armour secondary or walking roof.
If I was installing on unarmored roof
1 inch zed clamps ond mount the panels into the center of the roof to
account for deflection or curvature in the roof the frame of the panel
will provide strength, the weight of the panel stability and the zeds
stop the panel from moving, You also need sufficient room on the back
of the panel to make the electrical connections.
The goat rail and secondary roof are held on by gravity the screws
just hold in place likewise the roof airs are held on by 4 screws that
sandwich the 20-22 gauge together along with some urethane sealer to
stop leaks.
Solar panels are mostly made to withstand wind broadside with the
panels laid down you present very little surface area simple clamps
will suffice
