Brian,
Another idea...when I bought my 91WLWB40, I called customer service at
Detroit with the serial numbers (of the engine and DDECII computer) and asked
them about any warranty work that was done on my engine during the warranty
period. They told me about several small things (crank sensors, etc.) and that
the entire DDECII computer had been replaced. The last time I had it worked on
they updated the software from version 84 to 154 (I think). I don't know the
current version.
You might get some more history there.

engine and tranny are on the left side of the dash. In my 93, you
have to remove the panel where the mirror/temp/rear camera controls
are located. You can also remove the panel where the shifter controls
are too. I just find it easier to remove the bottom panel. Have even
toyed with the idea of putting a hole in the side panel to have better
access to the connectors. I have my engine serviced at a Detroit
Diesel/ Allison shop and get the print out after their service. Just
