Question on SP's
Hi Dave
We had a 91 SP36 for a while and appreciated every inch of it. The SP36 has a 300 HP Caterpiller 3208 engine with a ZF 5 spd trans with retarder. The only critical thing about the SP36 was the rear radiator fins would get clogged with oil mist from the crankcase breather and then dust and dirt would cling to the sludge causing the reality of overheating. This is overcome by cleaning the fins on the radiator and extending the breather tube out past the radiator. Regarding the power of the 3208 Cat,I always felt it was plenty adequate in nearly all situations after the ZF trans was reprogrammed to downshift sooner and give the driver earlier manual shifting ability. I am a advocate of mid door so it was ideal for our use. Beautiful coach! Fred & Jeanne Hulse Morristown Arizona 1997 Wanderlodge PT41 (mid door) |
