LED Marker Lights
leds are built to work in a very narrow voltage range
too high a voltage and there is greatly diminished product life too low a voltage and they will not light there is a sawoff between there two levels. If a driver is used to allow operation at a higher voltage then the low voltage cutoff rises inversely if the low voltage level is droppped then the high voltage level drops also. Unfortunately LEDs work best with a constant defined voltage ie. 12 volts exactly and that is something that is rarely available in an Automotive application and also there must be some amount of igniton protection. Now this not to say that LEDs are not suitable for automotive use and there are many millions of LEDs installed in cars, trucks, buses and the like. A quality bulb must be purchased and this equates to higher cost .
