I think you have the first model year with the diamond plate
decking. Birds' from 1979 and older had a corragated galvenized
metal deck that was painted by the factory with the base color of
the coach. I love the simplicity and reliability of my 1978, but I
wish it had the diamond plate instead of the metal deck. Perhaps it
may make sense for me to replace my decking material with the
upgraded diamond plate. I will look into that before painting.
