Help a first timer out :)
Cold temps. If it hasn't been operated regularly, you might not have
winter fuel in the tank, it might be a good idea to add some winter fuel additive available at truck-stops. I'd imagine you've already had the fluids checked and serviced, be sure that a good truck shop checks your engine coolant for proper additive levels, for freezing point and for SCA levels. Also carry at least one set of spare fuel filters. The fuel filter should be heated when the DD engine is running, that should handle the wax-point of the fuel while driving. The big DD engine is a bit cold-blooded. It is a good idea to run the genset when you wake up in the morning if you aren't plugged in, and run the engine block heater (lighted switch behind the mirrored headboard door) for a couple of hours if it is cold out, ... the batteries will also be charging while the genset is running to give you the best shot at starting. If you're plugged into good power, many of us leave the engine heater on in the winter. If you aren't sure about the engine battery condition, at least have good genset batteries, if you can start the genset you can charge the batteries. Good luck and welcome. - Jeff Miller in Holland, MI --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "bbq87bird" wrote: > > I just bought an 87 PT38 and currently working on getting all the bugs > out.
