tow dolly or another car?

I tow a 76 240D, use a Remco decoupler on the rear drive shaft at the rear
pinion. Makes a nice neat package.
By the way, don't think about removing the turbo on your NA. Keep the pyrometer
under 1000 degrees and you will be all good, if temp exceeds 1000, reduce
throttle opening or down shift. Operate the engine 1800 on the low side, 2650
on the high side and you will be fine. As you have a after market turbo, it
would be pretty easy to install an air to air charge air cooler and that would
be a real good thing, particularly for reducing exhaust smoke. People that go
by the creed of "you can't hurt a diesel running on the governor", tend to buy
new engines.

I'll be wanting to tow something behind the Bird. My wife drives 1977 MB 300d
and I drive an 85 MB 300td. Both have auto transmissions so aren't towable 4
wheels down. Is a tow dolly a reasonable option or are they just too much of a
pain in the neck? Would it be better to buy a cheap older stick shift car and
tow it with a tow bar? Other options?

Kerry
