Stranded in Burnet Texas, 85PT40
We are in "FreeBird" our 85 PT40. We are in Burnet Texas. Hwy 281 &
Hwy 29 at Bible Automotive. Have been camping at Inks Lake. Trying to go to San Antonio to see 92 year old Grandmother. Have my wife & 3 kids plus 2 kids friends with us. Don't know if this is my problem or not, but...Broke camp today & Backed down boat ramp to pick up boat on trailer. Shifted to 1st gear, would not move, went to 1-2 pulled out fifine. After, didn't shift into reverse. Although reverse was nuetral. Shifter problem. Will fix soon. Shifts fine now. Runs fine. Nowhile driving, RPM @1700 I hear a loud squeal, almost like wind howling howling loudly. Doesn't do it when coasting, only when pushing the gas. Transmission oil temps running about 20- 30 degrees higher than normal.Have stopped here. Wife hears sound VERY well while standing in hall right in front of our bed. Can also hear when sticking head out windows. Checked transmission fluid. Looks great & smells good. Checked differential fluid. Good too. Don't know what else to look for/do. No one can see us til Friday. Any ideas or direction? Limited cell service. Call my cell at 214- 435-1690 or my son's # 817-219-0778 Should we drive? Thanks in advance.John & Tracy Mann |
