Air Step and Batteries

Air Step and Batteries
Our batteries are failing. We have been charging them twice a day
while we are parked here in the cold. Nights down to about 17 and
days in the 30's, all the campgrounds are closed so we are dry
camping so Dick can see the Dr.
The batteries still take a charge but don't hold it for as long as
they used to. This morning the inverter quit about 6 am so we had to
start the generator. Right now we have Interstate SRM 29 12 volt
batteries that are 3 years old. Any thoughts on what would be good
replacement? Size is a constraint. The Interstate distributor would
have to order them and the RV retail place wants $88 each. We talked
to a fellow at Northern Battery and he wants $63 each plus
installation. We are waiting for a quote from the Trojan outlet.

I think the Northern Batteries are probably made by Ray-o-Vac (local
manufacturer of batteries) but don't seem to have national
distribution.

While I was poking around the files and databases I tried to download
the file on the air step but I kept getting a message that the file
was corrupted. Our air step is leaking badly again and now it won't
lock in the out position. A wiggly step is a dangerous thing. One of
us and it will probably be me will have to stick her head under the
step and figure out how to tighten the valve so I would like diagrams
and pictures so I know what I am looking for and at.
