Steve,
The 8v92 is a very common engine. You won't have any trouble finding
qualified shops. There is a very good shop in Nephi, UT. "Doyles".
It's just across I-15,(north side) from the Flying J. You mentioned
Freightliner.....You might have to wait a while to get into one of
their shops. Vegas will be more expensive than going towards Salt lake
for repairs.
You also ask about power range,etc. 8v92's run about the same power
range as your cat. All in all their isn't any problem operating a
detroit. They were used as fleet engines for years untill being
replaced by the detroit 60 series engines.
