Sighting - where have all the Blue Birds gone?

RE: Sighting - where have all the Blue Birds gone?
Well, 52 days, 5,319 miles and 18 states later, we encountered a total of two Wanderlodges actually out and about (not counting a few for sale that we reviewed). The bus ran great, but that's a story for another post.

We had so many people stopping by with compliments on the bus that it really makes you feel pretty darn good. Folks were also coming up with questions, like "Just out of curiosity, I saw you standing here for a while. Make me feel better. How much does it cost to fill that thing up?" Another time,we were filling up with fuel along the Gulf Coast when a feminine voice behind me said "What year is your Wanderlodge?" Turns out that they own a 1982 PT-40 with only about 45,000 miles on it! As she put it, it was like a time warp machine, because everything still looks like new in it. They bought it to live in when their house was destroyed in a hurricane. House was rebuilt but they still have the bus. They may sell it, so I gave her some links to list the bus.

We enjoyed the trip and took the bus down Memory Lane through it's home of origin, Fort Valley, GA. (See my other post on Muriel's.) The abandoned factory was sad, but the old Bird's Nest was especially a pitiful site to behold. Appears to be a (temporary?) GA DOT Project Office now.
