Stud Piloted vs Hub Piloted

Stud Piloted vs Hub Piloted
Mike,

Info on the

http://www.accuridewheels.com

website indicates that the trucking industry is moving to the hub
piloted wheels because of the reduced parts inventories and ease of
maintenance for those servicing large fleets. The hub piloted wheels
use one nut per stud on single or dual configurations and all threads
are right hand on both sides of the vehicle. Doesn't sound like much
but for fleets with hundreds of units it all adds up. Also part of
the explanation for some fleets using Alcoa "super singles" and
Accuride wide rim singles.

divot around the stud holes to receive the lug nuts. The dealer got
me the right ones no problem. He did say the stud pilot stuff is
getting harder to supply. Don't know if that was BS or not.
