Generator Won't Start?
Mike, things like a loose cap or too much gooey grease on the point
cam or distributor weight springs will make it hard to start. Like
plug wires (that fail with age even without use), ignition coil is
also a replaceable maintenance item often overlooked. After-market
coils and wires have disappointed me in the past.

If your bus was ever owned by a 'pressurewasher engindegreeser clean
freak,' chances are the grease in the distributor lost its oil and
turned to wax, the coil lost its seal and went bad plug wires are
cracked and all the sealed bearing in your bus are dry. Spraying wd40
and other things at the points will wash the oil out of the grease
also.

I soak gunky things in light oil (diesel fuel) to thin out the bond,
agitate it with a parts brush and wash it off with hot water and
laundry soap.
