"Water In Fuel" Light
Hi All,

Last week I noticed my "Water In Fuel" light blink on and off a couple
of times as I descended a steep hill. Yesterday it came on and stayed
on. I drained about a gallon from the tank drain located in a small
rectangular well at the tank bottom and found no water. You can see
the sensor mounted at the front of this "well". The drain is at the
rear of this well, about 15" back, and it appears to have a less than
1 gallon capacity. I also replaced the Racor filter after discarding
the old and draining about a half gallon through the bowl to eliminate
the sediment. No water there either. The light is still "ON". Am I
missing something or do these sensors malfunction. Since not one drop
of water was found I am left guessing if I missed something or the
sensor is the problem. I would think that since it blinked on and off
going downhill (sensor is on the front of the "well") a small amount
of water was present. I topped off the fuel yesterday with 200 gallons
(@ $2.95) and all indications are that it is clean and clear. I drove
another 100 miles after filling and the Bird runs perfectly. Your
advice is appreciated.
