Filters

I recently searched the Web for research on filter quality. There are many such
projects out there. Most reached the same conclusions about which filter makers
are OK. Bottom line: Filters made by Wix are well made and consistently
reliable. None of the Wix fiters were found to be unacceptable. In all cases, a
better filter than Wix could be found, but usually at a much higher price. In
general the high-end filters did not do a better job, but would keep doing the
job longer. For folks who do frequent oil changes the high-priced filters
seemed to offer little advantage over Wix-built filters.

Napa and Carquest filters are the same filters as those sold under the Wix brand
name.

I did not learn who makes filters for Cat, DD, or Cummins - but the filters
currently sold by Honda were reported to be junk.

I'm just repeating what was said on the Web sites. For more detail, the
information is easy to find on the Web.
