We have decided to reprogram the musical horn. Today, on our 86FC35RB I
took the compartment above the co pilot apart and there was no black box. Hmmm Then I took the right front over head panel down..no box. Alot of a/c hoses but no box. Then the Left front overhead panel and still can not find it. Any ideas?? I have come to a point where I have the front open and can not find the box. Has anyone found the box some where else???? Thanks in advance ScottB 86FC35 SC |

Scott,
Open the passenger side outside panel above the headlights, the windshield wiper is attached to this panel. This is where I found the black box on my coach. Darn tight fit. Mr musical horn "brain" is above the co-pilot seat. Open the forward-
most curb side overhead compartment, then remove the front sidewall of the storage bin (simple screws). Behind that, I found the "brain" (actually a silver box, not black), and also an aplifier that sent the signal to the roof speakers. The silver box was about six inches square by one inch high and had no markings of any kind on it, but you will see the thick, gray wire ribbon that plugs in to it. I was going to have mine reprogrammed, too, but when it got to PMMI, they discovered that mine is so old it cannot be reprogrammed. You may want to verify with them that your model can be reprogrammed before you spend the shipping to send it in. To all that replied, THANKS, I got into the front today and well after
figuring out that I could not reach everything I took the panel off the in front of the passenger seat. I guess everyone was right take the front panel off or open the front of the bus. Small tight space was an understatement. No way was I going to get the box out so I took the whole wooden tray out. I will send off to PMMI in the am. Scott,
If your musical horn is not working it could be your speakers on top of the bus. That was my problem. I took a speaker from the house and wired it to the box and mine played fine. Just a thought. I had my musical horn reprogrammed at PMMI with new songs. I received
the unit back today, installed it, and it won't work. Has anyone ever tried to troubleshoot one of these? I tested the speakers, it isn't that. Scott Forman 86 PT38 |
