BB Direct Sales info
Ron; it is truly refreshing to hear a positive thought about what BB is doing.
Its easy to hang crepe in the market place and once having hung it, it blows to
all corners. I know nothing about marketing BB's and will leave that to those
that know the full story. I am hopeful that others will heed your thoughts and
advice.

I think Bluebird has done an admirable job of supporting all owners
with vintage Birds as well as the new coaches
I do not believe that there is another manufacturer that is willing or
able to give the time and energy that Bluebird does to its owners.
Sorry if you have to wait for an answer there is only one Benny and
one Earl. You cant call GM OR Ford or DC and ever expect an answer on
a twenty year old vehicle it just aint gonna happen. Even if you do
call you get a call centre that doesnt know squat
As far as not being able to obtain parts.
The federal mandate for AUTOMOBILES is availability of parts for 10
years only. Do you really expect Bluebird to support your twenty year
coach till the end of time. I have spent a good part of my spare time
sourcing parts that are no longer available . I hold no grudge to
Bluebird it just makes it fun to be an owner of a relic or vintage
bird . Its part of the hobby of owning a recreational vehicle that is
Vintage
I feel lucky that most parts for my 77 are still available and quite a
few from Bluebird. Actually it is sort of neat that parts from a much
newer coach will cross back to 77. Try doing that with your 77 phord
Ihave spent a good amount of time sourcing parts that are no longer
available from Bluebird and there are others who have done the same
Bluebird is not the only manufacturer going through a tough spot .
Wait till the figures come out for the rest of the RV Industry . It is
already reported that park model trailer sales are flat in the first
quarter.
I applaud Bluebird on its efforts and only hope in time to able to
afford my 450 (in Blue)

Folks, well I will keep this short my "rant" is on another forum.
Quite honestly and from my experience (remember I was there at the
RATS Rally and had a face to face) BlueBird could care less about
this internet crowd, we own, for the most part, used older coaches,
THAT WERE ALREADY SOLD ONCE from a dealer. BlueBird only makes money
from parts we buy, a serious far cry from saving the company. They
MUST SELL NEW UNITS

Lets all be real here.

For example and I quote from the sales force of "ONE" "next year NO
ONE will enter the rally without paying for it"...I would have a hard
time dropping $500.00 just TO LOOK even if I was serious about a new
coach...I know John Bleakley and Mike M appreciated the guys at the
RATS rally from NY and IN that came to look! The roses and flowers we
all got in the follow up from the rally were NOT THE SAME from the
dealers...who did not sell a coach but incurred major expense. So
someone does not have a realistic view of their market! I could offer
a guess..probably the guy sitting in Ft Valley trying to figure out
what to do.

So listening to "corporate damage control" is just that! They were
spewing all is well before they even entered the Las Vegas court.

NOW IF WE REALLY WANT TO PUT IT ON THE TABLE.. If BB really cares
about what opinions/criticisms we on the forums have... WHY DOESNT
SOMEONE FROM THE MARKETING SIDE OF THE COMPANY SPEAK UP??? Have an
open discussion. Maybe my third line above really tells the story...

I have said it before and STILL believe it...the folks that have
poured their lives into making our coaches what they are; are the
ones suffering...THEY DESERVE BETTER...

BB Direct Sales info
From a new owner of a 93 PT40, first time owner

I come to this group via a Chris-Craft boat group and two MG car
groups. The factory is interested in SALES and making a profit.
Chris-Craft was bought and sold many times, the new owners are
interested in the legacy but don't support 1960's boats like mine
let alone 1930's. MG has come and gone, there is no support.
Ultimately the support for older vehicles, boats etc falls to us,
the owners of those vintage vehicles. Let the factory do what it
needs to survive and keep the legacy alive.

Now the important question, does anyone know what dish TV network
offers CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Co.)? I need my Hockey Night in
Canada fix when we travel next winter.

Many more questions to follow!!

offers CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Co.)? I need my Hockey Night in
Canada fix when we travel next winter.

BB Direct Sales info
thats why the systems are multiplexed they follow an industry standard
for ease of repair one or two diagnostic ports to access all the
electrical systems.The information bus on the 450 can be accessed from
the outside of the coach if need be. The canbus is industry standard
for almost all heavy vehicles do a search and read and learn
Tom wake up and smell the diesel it is easier to diagnose a problem on
a 450 than it ever was on a older lxi.
quit ragging on how good the old were and how simple it was and how
bad Bluebird is. It is not 1985 anymore

BB Direct Sales info
Blue Bird is doing a good job by recognizing that the dealers sell
many brands and or located near dealers that sell other brands (RV
Marts). I think few shop for a new BlueBird. They shop for a
Highend Coach and end up with what ever the sales team wants to put
them in. If BB sold only at the factory and had regional sales teams,
(John, can the Bosh and Decal gig) The teams could push only the BB
Coach. Sure, They will miss out on the walkup RVMart buyers. I
think few buyers do an impulse purchase on a million dollar item
any way.

Train BB existing network of Schoolbus repair facilities to do High
end RV repair since even the Prevost have many identical parts,
systems, and maintenance requirements. The addition of the money
making high end RV repair and scheduled maintenance should be good
for these shops. Grouping Prevost Newell and BlueBird together in a
service advertisement is a good way to remind Newell and Prevost
shoppers and owners that BB is also a high end coach and should be
considered for purchase.

Screw the old BB crowd. Cut your losses and dump the inventory to a
reseller that can cater to the old bus buyers. ( parts will prob. be
cheaper to enduser) At most, help set up an Internet data base that
list info specs mechanical tips and source for parts. Have a policy
that helps these Internet groups help each
other.

Give high visible personalities a one year free lease on a Coach.
Get them lined up at all the Nascar Pits, NFL Players tailgate
parties, even give HRC one for her cross county campaign (Sup Mike).

Pass the negative info with the positive info. If you send my post
let them know what I do for a living.

You are quite correct about Newell - OTOH Bluebird does not follow any such
policy. When we were looking to move up in the wanderlodge line, (A 450lxi)
they offered much less than the true value of our existing coach. In fact,
two years later, it sold for twice as much as their offer. While Bluebird
used to offer a superior product with support, the trend I have been seeing
is one of the reasons I did not insist that we remain out of the fiberglass
coaches.

Perhaps there is some limits set between the factory and dealers that
gives protection to the dealers. Since we are not privy to their
agreement, we can only speculate.

If it is not fair, then the dealers will all drop out and maybe that
is the strategy. Newell functions quite well without dealers, but
they produce custom coaches and only 33 coaches per year. Newell also
controls their used coach market and pricing quite well, since they
accept all trade-ins for their following to move up to newer models.
They do a thorough inspection and repair before putting them back on
the market with a warranty.
